Raw Juices - Nutrients found
Below are some of the Plant references with regard to nutrients. I have listed mostly just the ones used in the listed juice recipes. There are of course more fruits, vegetables and herbs to juice! Some of the herbs we regularly add to our juices that grow in our herb garden are gotu kola, comfrey, parsley, brahmi, and two types of mint.
Plant type, Nutrients & Phyto-chemicals
Apple:
Vit. B & C, potassium,
calcium iron, silicon, choline, phosphorous Properties High levels
of soluble fibre pectin; excellent for the bowel flora, constipation,
toxins and parasites. Helps gout, gallstones, arthritis, lowers
cholesterol. " When juicing us the whole apple if it is organic,
otherwise wash apples exceptionally well and do not use the core.
String Beans:
Vit. B & C, beta-carotene
& folic acid, calcium, potassium, iron Properties In Traditional
Chinese Medicine beans help support and strengthen the kidneys and
liver function. High in protein. High in fibre and slow release
of glucose so excellent for diabetics and therefore help keep blood
sugar levels in balance.
Beetroot & Tops:
Vit. B,C,
folic acid & beta carotene. Choline, manganese, iron, sodium, calcium,
chromium, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium Properties Excellent
cleaner for the blood - the liver, biliary system, gallbladder.
Great for iron deficiency and anaemia. Helps reduce hardening in
atherosclerosis.
Berries:
Blackberries, Strawberries,
Blueberries, Raspberries Vit. C, beta-carotene, postassium, iron,
calcium Properties General tonic and skin cleanser, mild laxative
and have diuretic properties. Also support kidney function. Great
anti-ageing food.
Broccoli:
High levelsVit B,C,
folic acid, beta carotene, Calcium, iron, phosphorous, potassium
and sulphur Properties Good for weight loss - sulphur content helps
the function of the liver. Good for High blood pressure, poor liver
functions and constipation
Brussels Sprouts:
Vit. B,C,
folic acid, beta carotene, phosphorous, calcium, iron, potassium,
sulphur Properties Reducing insulin problems, obesity, liver problems,
constipation
Cabbage:
Vit. C,B, folic acid,
beta carotene, high in sulphur, choline, calcium, potassium, iodine
Properties Reduces gallstones, assists bile duct function, helps
all kinds of digestive and intestinal problems, infections, parasites,
ulceration, and which means it will also benefit the skin for acne
or infections.
Carrot:
Vit. B,C,D,E,K, beta-carotene,
calcium, iron, phosphorus, chromium, magnesium, potassium, sodium,
sulphur, silica Properties Excellent for the eyes and skin. Reduces
inflammation of the digestion and respiratory tract. Great for kids
and pregnancy. Good for diabeties to have small amounts of carrot
due to its insulin-like compounds.
Celery:
Vit. B,C, calcium,
potassium, magnesium, sodium,iron, sulphur. Properties Reduces acid
for those with gout, arthritis, toxins and balances blood pH. Good
for digestive acidity, reflux. Diuretic which reduces fluid retention.Good
for nervous system, insomnia, kidney & bladder problems
Cucumber:
Vit B,C, and beta-carotene,
sodium, silica, manganese, sulphur, potassium, calcium, phosphorous,
chlorine and magnesium. Properties Excellent diuretic propterties.
Good anti-inflammatory effect on the urinary tract, skin, gums.
High in silica which is beneficial for the skin, hair and nails.
Reduce hair loss. Helpful for high blood pressure. Reduces acidity
and is helpful with arthritis, rheumatic conditions and reducing
kidney stones.
Dandelion:
Vit. B,C, high beta-carotene,
folic acid, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium. (fresh
leaves) Properties Stimulates bile flow and cleanses the liver and
biliary system. Helps anaemia and builds blood, good for constipation
and eczema. Helps with acid balance.
Fenne:
l Vit. B,C, beta-carotene,
calcium, chromium, cobalt, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous,
potassium, selenium, silicon, sodium, zinc Properties Calms digestion
and assists gastric secretions, aids cramping, flatulence & bloating
Garlic:
(this also relates
to all vegetables in the 'allium' family - Leeks, Onions, Spring
Onions, Chives) Vit B,C, selenium, phosphorous, iron, chromium,
calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulphur Properties Natural antibiotic
to fight infections, reduces LDL cholesterol. Promotes healthy cardiovascular
function, and good bile and liver cleanser. Helps support immune
system. Reduces parasites.
Ginger Root:
Vit. C, cooper,
potassium, sodium, iron, calcium, zinc, phosphorous and magnesium.
Properties Natural antibiotic, reducing congestions, mucous production,
inhibits inflammation, reduces blood clotting and reduces LDL cholesterol
Grapes:
Vit B,C, betacarotene,
phosphorous, iron, calcium, potassium, pectin (with skins) Properties
Great energy boost; has laxative and diuretic properties; helps
anaemia and blood disorders. Reduces arthritic inflammation and
reduces acid. Helps support skin, kidney, liver function. Good for
skin complexion, liver, kidney function.
Grapefruit:
Vit B,E(high)C,
betacarotene, biotin, inositol, calcium, iron, phosphorous, potassium
Properties Aids in removal and dissolving of excess calcium in joints.
Good for respiratory catarrh, gallbladder and liver function, obesity,
skin problems.
Hoseradish:
Vit B,C, phosphorous,
calcium, sulphur, high in potassium Properties Natural antibiotic,
useful for colds; ear, nose, throat, bronchial infections. Stimulates
appetite and bile flow. Use small amounts as larger ones can be
irritating to the stomach.
Lemon:
Vit C,P(citrine contect),
potassium, magnesium, little calcium Properties Reduces tendency
to haemorrhage, reduces blood clots, lowers high blood pressure.
Solvent like action on the arthritic deposits in the joints. Cleanser
of the liver, bowel, and blood stream Relieves sore throats, coughs,
colds, catarrh, asthma. Do not use if you have peptic ulcers.
Parsley:
Vit. B, folic acid,
high in C, sodium, calcium, potassium, phosphorous, copper, manganese,
high in iron and chlorophyll. Properties Great cleanser of the liver,
kidneys, blood stream. Reduces gallstones & kidney stones; good
for urinary tract infections and arthritis. Diuretic. Helps maintain
healthy blood vessels and eyes.
Pawpaw:
(papaya) Vit B, high
in C, beta-carotene, phosphorous, potassium, iron, calcium Properties
Contains beneficial digestive enzyme 'papain'; cleanses and tones
the stomach and intestines. Reduces blood clotting.
Pears:
Vit B,C, calcium,
iron, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, magnesium Properties Reduces
acid, useful for digestive problems, irritable bowel, constipation,
colitis. Excellent for those intolerant to salicylates or food allergies.
Pineapple:
Vit B,C,E, calcium, sodium, phosphorous, chlorine, magnesium, potassium
Properties Natural antiinflammatory - good for arthritis. Its digestive
enzymes, especially bromelain, will support digestion, work as a
mild laxative and has diuretic properties. Useful for excess mucous
conditions.
Watercress:
Vit B,C,E, folic
acid, betacarotene, high in sulphur, calcium,ioron, sodium, magnesium,
phosphorous, chlorine, potassium, iodine Properties Excellent liver
cleanser, supports bile ducts and gallbladder function. Support
kidney function and reduces fluid. Good for skin, arthritis, gout.
Use mixed with other juices.
