Emotional level and how it effects your bodypart 2
Let us have a quick look at our Brain.
Brain 1 is the Reptilian Brain, the first brain to develop - Reptiles still have this brain and this is where ‘we freeze when frightened’ occurs or we strike out to protect our selves, it includes the spine and all its nerves.
Brain 2 is the next to develop and it is called the Limbic Brain - this is where the hormonal glands such as pineal and pituitary reside. More importantly, this is the Emotional Brain. So the limbic area is where the flight/fight mechanism is mainly situated.
An important point to remember here is that the emotions are the brain’s thoughts felt in and on the physical body.
Brain 3 is the Neo-Cortex and was the last to develop. This is where most of our information is stored. The Neo-cortex is divided into left and right hemispheres. We understand from research that each brain hemisphere has it’s own areas of expertise and depending on how well they interact with each other will depend on how well we relate to the outside world.
It’s our 5 senses that warn us of dangers and protect us. In fact our senses supply us with most of our knowledge and experience of the world around us. I haven’t yet mentioned the information that comes from our intuition, 6th sense, chakras, auric fields or frontal lobes. I’m mainly addressing outside stimuli, that keeps us in fight or flight. The Limbic brain will act as if it is all real and act accordingly.
So if we have a stressful experience, an argument with the boss at work for example, and we keep playing over the same experience in memory, the limbic brain still thinks we are in danger and it keeps stimulating the body into the fight or flight response.
Research has shown that abused children are unable to produce positive brain chemicals such as the endorphins. Their brains have not had enough positive experiences to be given the right type of stimuli.
We must take the time each day to practise feeding peaceful, relaxed, calming messages to our brain and nervous system. If the brain can’t be relaxed then it must be taught to relax. It must be given an alternate way of acting and reacting.
We need to tell our Brains/Nervous system that ‘all is well’ that it is safe here and now,’ that for the next 20 minutes or so, we can let go, relax and surrender to this moment.
Each day needs to contain a letting go time. A place and a time to say 'all is safe, I can relax now".
A
time to process the day. A time to retrain the brain in healthy
recharging, restoring, healing life patterns. You will live
longer, you will be healthier, you will enjoy each day more.
You will give your body time to heal and most importantly
you will quieten and retrain the mind to hear a higher wisdom
and love.
